Tablecloths & Talking with Lucy Tweed

THIS MONTH’S TABLECLOTHS & TALKING IS WITH LUCY TWEED!
If you know who Lucy is, you’ll understand why I’m shouting about this! If you don’t know Lucy, I envy the great discovery you have in front of you! Lucy’s “Every Night of the Week” Instagram account is one of social media’s great joys. Her photos are crisp and bright, her recipe captions are train of thought and hilarious. And her food is bloody delicious. I have both her cookbooks. They are splattered with regular use*.
She posted a pic of a hamburger a few months ago, I shared it and tagged her suggesting she needed TDT Burger Beetroot in her next burger. She promptly placed an order. I squealed with excitement (in truth, I may have cried a little. It felt like a REALLY BIG DEAL!). Lucy is so generous - the recipes she shares, the producers she loves, her styling, her humour. She is genuine and fun and I hope that we can share multiple entrees and a martini together one day Lucy!
But in the meantime, let’s enjoy this Tablecloths & Talking chat. I’m still tickled by the fact she has The Dill Tickle in her fridge! Thank you Lucy for supporting my little biz.

Q: Introduce yourself and what you do.
A: My name is Lucy Tweed. I am a food event and lifestyle stylist and the founder of Every Night Of The Week which includes am instagram account, a series of cookbooks and an online subscriber platform. Plus I manage catering and HR for my household of 5 :-)

Q: What is your favourite Dill Tickle product and how do you use it?
A:
Definitely the green guy: Spicy Green Sauce. Absolutely cannot go past this tangy little number, perfect on anything fatty, rich, crispy, creamy. Think poached eggs, French fries, rich cheese or sour cream. Oooh and tacos!!!!

Yes or No…
Coriander?
100% yay.
Blue Cheese?
It’s great, but it can bossy, so you need to be bossy back.
Pickles on a Burger?
YES!
Egg Sandwich?
Yes, but alone.

Q: What would your Last Supper be?
Entrée…
Martinis. Fried zucchini flowers + parpadelle w some kind of emulsion and REAL shaved black truffle.
Main… More entrees. Mains suck
Dessert… Hmmm, sgroppino. And another entree.
Drink… Current FAVOURITE wine is Usher Tinkler Wines 2023 SINGLE VINEYARD BIG BAD BILL SEMILLON.
And who would your dream guest be to join you for this finale?! It would have to be a long table with lots of people that make me happy and smile. Select friends who I have had moments with that are so joyful I could cry. They are the best eating friends.

Q: What do you bring when you’re told not to bring a thing?!
A:
Always wine. Never flowers unless I also bring a vase. A candle is nice too. But most importantly a good energy, an anticipation to meet someone new, help in any way, and laugh a lot.

Q:What are your top 3 pantry must-haves/staples?
Olive oil
Flake salt
Pasta

Q: What is something that’s been sitting unused in your pantry for a while?
A:
Fucking hazelnuts. They are just not the same when not mixed with chocolate.

Q: What’s your comfort food or the one dish that always brings you joy?
A:
Anything savoury from a bowl while curled up that can be scooped with a spoon… think soup, pasta, sausages mash and too much gravy, and if there is something that I want in that situation that isn’t spoonable, I chop it up.

Q: What’s the best meal you’ve ever eaten?
A:
Holy shit. I will come back to this. I did come back but… Do you know what… it’s too hard.
Instead two unforgettable moments: When I was little with dad and I told him I just wanted to bite into an iceberg lettuce like and apple and he bought me one so I could. It was delightful and I highly recommend this experience.
And the other would be mum shoving a warm vine fresh baby bean wrapped in a basil leaf into my mouth.

A quick 3…
Early Bird or Night Owl?
Early bird.
Your kitchen tunes? Depends on the weather and food. I sometimes like things that energise you, start you moving. Sometimes I like calming music to relax and meditate too. Then other times I like old sing a long classics. It’s too hard to choose a genre. I suggest always adding a song to your own list of crazy faves… no rhyme or reason, just whatever works.
Fave Cookbook? Mine obvs. But next to those… oldies Neil Perry’s Food I Love was iconically inspirational to me from a styling perspective, as was Nigel Slaters Real Food for flavours and recipe writing. Currently I really love content from ADIP food on insta. I really enjoyed Ixta Belfrage’s MEZCLA for her playful approach to food.

*My top 5 faves are Fridge Giver San Choy Bau, Fish Curry, My Brother from Another Mother’s Thighs & Alfredo ‘Shroom Souffra.
